The type of flower in the picture is a zinnia with a monarch butterfly nestling into it.

The most important sense to butterflies is their sense of smell. The American Museum of Natural History has some more butterfly faqs that you can discover. Just follow the link below.

Asian Hornet

Largest ones found yet

faraway land origin

feast on honey bees.

(Pictures & Video from https://agr.wa.gov/hornets)

Washington State Department of Agriculture has videos to show what these Asian (Murder) Hornets are capable of. This dangerous insect was said to have arrived in the U.S. from Japan via cargo on a ship. They have been spotted in Washington State and in Canada. Both nests have been recently eradicated in hopes that they have not spread elsewhere. If you do spot any of these deadly creatures in Washington State or elsewhere, please visit the WSDA website and fill out their report form asap.

Here's a Facebook Video demonstrating how quickly Murder Hornets can eradicate a full honey bee nest in a short amount of time. Take note of the differences in their sizes. This was recorded in Japan.
