- Today marks the first candle lit for the Jewish holiday.
- Hanukkah means dedication.
- The Macabee Jewish people fought to reclaim their church.
- Inside of the church was their Hanukkah Menorah candelabra that has 9 candles.
- For each night they only had enough oil to light up only one candle over the span of 8 nights.
- The middle candle is called the Shamash and is used to light up the others.
